It's 102 degrees as the bus lurches thru a high desert valley of Mexico. I smile at the woman sitting next to me, who is busy rolling a regional specialty of fried grasshoppers seasoned with lime juice and chiles into a corn tortilla. "¿Quieres unas, güerita?" - "Do you want some?" she asks me. "No gracias, ya comí." - "No thanks, I've already eaten," I explain. And it's true. At our last stop, parked under an overhang of red and purple bougainvillea, vendors flooded onto the bus, selling bags of peeled fresh mango and papaya and cold beer and tamales.
